4 LITTLE GIRLS ON A BOAT

SUNSET ST. AUGUSTINE
Its almost 11am & we are leaving the mooring field at the St Augustine City Marina to anchor across the river for a few more days.  We are still waiting for a couple of parts that are in transit from the manufacturer for the watermaker.  This morning we met Bob & Nina aboard Moondance.  They are from Tulsa, Oklahoma & are friends with the Canadian family on a 49ft Bavaria on the mooring ball across from us. Both couples bought their boats last May & are new to the cruising life.

The 4 children on the Canadian Bavaria have been a huge entertainment for us every day.  They are all under 6yrs old & they scamper from the bow to the stern in a nonstop parade of motion.  Playing with everything from the lines on the main, fenders, laundry hanging out & the lifelines.  Anything will do, they are adorable, but so busy I can't imagine what it would take to deal with life on a boat with 4 very small children.   The mom & dad spent an entire day had washing laundry & had dozens of very tiny shorts, shirts, underwear & more hanging from everything available.  When they leave the boat, mom has one on her back & dad with 3 more in tow, into the dingy & away they go.  An amazing family, those children did not stop moving while on deck.  When I took these pictures  the 4th was below deck.  Cute but exhausting

  1. Fantastic story of 4 kids in a boat. i cant imagine how 'cool' the two parents must be... i recall being one of four kids and trapped into a car on cross country trips. (many years ago - before seat belts were invented and standard gear. my baby sister asleep in the back window.) imagine living like that for months at a time. what is bath hour like? how crowded is the head? CAN YOU GET A FAMILY PHOTO closeup of them? i'm dying to see their little faces.

  2. The Canadian family left St. Augustine a couple of days ago, heading south. Maybe we will run into them as we move toward the islands. I could not get a close up of the children, they were moving so fast, all over that boat, I am surprised I even got their pictures. They bought the boat & moved aboard last May, still pretty new at this. The parents must have unlimited patience. I can't even imagine 49ft with 2 adults & 4 very small children 24/7. Rod was 1 of 6 traveling cross country in a car. Oh the memories......
