SHELL ISLAND - OUR LAST DAY AT ANCHOR

MAY 13, 2012

The storm has finally passed.  We are leaving Shell Island tomorrow AM.  If you are visiting the coast of Florida, this is a great stop & we are sad to leave. We had some interesting company on our last day at anchor.  About noon 2 boats full of very energetic young people anchored right off our bow.  The PARTY was underway, the music was blasting, beer was flowing & the girls were dancing, all afternoon.  They pulled up the anchor & headed out about sundown leaving the night very quiet.  Their company made for a very interesting anchorage on our last day.

Getting an early start we will head straight across to Tampa.  The journey offshore should take 36 to 40 hours, our longest passage to date on It's Perfect.  We may be out of Internet & phone contact some of that time but we should arrive in Tampa on Tuesday evening.  I will leave you with some of Rod's favorite WILDLIFE photo's taken right here on Shell Island.

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?

  1. Safe travels, fair winds and following seas. See you on the other side. Enjoy your overnight passage. Nothing like that in the world. Unbelievable stars above and at the waterline...phosphorescence as you move through the water is a special thing.

  2. It sounds so peaceful! No stresses, just ocean and sky and enjoying the present moment. I'll be vicariously inhaling salt air. May it be the adventure of a lifetime!

  3. Angela you are right. Ther is nothing else like it in the world. Judy you do not have to vicariously inhale salt air, you can come visit & try it for yourself. Everyone should have a chance to do this! Then I can read your discription of it.
