HEADING FOR DEAPER WATER

WHITE IBIS ON THE WALKWAY

We are aboard It's Perfect anchored in
Taylor Creek, Beaufort, NC.  We have secured the boat & will leave tomorrow around 8AM, south to Charleston.  Coming north we took the Atlantic route & it took about 40 hours from Charleston to Beaufort.  This trip will take us along the ICW & we will take about 2 weeks.

IT'S PERFECT'S MAST
ABOVE THE TREES

We have spent the last few days enjoying beautiful, cool weather.  We took care of all the normal chores soon after we arrived.  First it was a 3 mile bike ride to the grocery & Post Office.  While I bought groceries, Rod went next door to the Post Office & picked up the new controller for the fridge.  As soon as we returned to the boat the new controller was installed in less than 10 min. & presto it is working like a new machine.  Another repair bites the dust.

While doing laundry Rod gave me a break & I went to the local library book sale two blocks away.  It is held every weekend on the waterfront between May & October.  There is almost nothing I like better than a used book sale.  After I purchased a few choice books, I returned to the laundry to find the clothes were almost all folded & ready to go.

THE BEACHES ARE GORGEOUS

WILD HORSES
When the chores were complete it was time to relax.  We spent our time in the dinghy seeing the waterways & walking the white sand beaches.  Not a bad life if you can get it.  A little too much sun but we have had a great time.  The small island we are anchored by is called Carrot Island.  In the 1950's horses were set free on the island & there are now about 40 wild horses living on Carrot Island.  Sometimes late in the afternoon you can see them grazing by the shore.

We have loved taking our time moving up east coast.  We have visited places & done things we will never forget.  As the weather cools, our thoughts turn to sailing in tropical islands. There is a lot to do & see between here & there but, moving south suddenly seems like the perfect thing to do.
