Today is a bright sunny day & we
are making water while anchored in the aqua blue waters of the Tobago Cays in the Southern Grenadines. The Cays are a small group of
deserted islands protected by a Horseshoe Reef. It's Perfect is
anchored in the small passage between Petit Rameau & Petit
Bateau. The beaches are starkly white against the lush green of the
small islands.
SCHOONER MANDOLAY AT ANCHOR BESIDE IT'S PERFECT |
We motored the 8 miles from Canouan to
the Tobago Cays yesterday, anchoring about 10:30am. The park is full of
boats from every corner of the world. After securing the boat we
were in the dinghy & off to explore the islands. There is a lot
of current inside the reef & the water is choppy with a steady
breeze off the ocean. The anchorages are crowded even though it is
off season.
After a couple of hours on the beaches
& in the water we were back on It's Perfect. There is just enough
time for a short nap before Sun Downers aboard Pipe Muy Bligh with
Rene & Stacy. They are anchored out close to the reef. By 5:30
we were visiting with 8 other cruisers in the cockpit. It was a full house, the food, drink & conversation was
great. I thought it was amazing they could sit so many in the
cockpit. We have had 12 people at one time aboard It's Perfect &
there was not an inch to spare.
This afternoon we will sail 8 miles over to Union Island. This is the last island in the Grenadines. We will spend one night & check out of the Grenadines. Our next stop is the island of Carriacou, a part of Grenada.
What to say...so sorry it has taken so long to check in with you guys; it has been crazy since I got back!... Missing life on the water.
ReplyDeleteThe journey South was just amazing, thanks for sharing it; My favorite part was the whole trip.
Freshly inspired, I have made it clear to all who will listen that my boat is headed out in the early spring next year.
Blue skies and fair winds,
