CARNIVAL |
PARTY BOATS PACKED PEOPLE ROAM THE ANCHOAGE |
We are finally ready to leave. For the most part we have enjoyed our stay here in Trinidad. As a cruiser there are several reasons to visit this island. Access to parts and services for your boat at a reasonable price far surpasse anything you will find on the other islands. Fuel prices are so low it is almost not to be believed. If you need to provision the variety and market choices are excellent.
All this being said we are past ready to be on the move. Carnival has begun with many events, concerts and fairs underway. Today is the famous Carnival parade, there are so many people that finding transportation to and from this event had to be booked far in advance. The harbor is full of boats from all over the world and people speaking every language you can imagine. The entire island is shut down and traffic is at a standstill. The quiet of an empty cove is just what we need.
PARTY AT THE CARNIVAL PARADE |
Our new autopilot is installed and has been calibrated and tested. The tanks are full, decks cleared and below decks secured. Our passage will take us northeast around the huge
North Coast Marine Area consisting of 6 huge gas fields including the Hibiscus, Bougainville and Poinsettia rigs about 30 miles offshore. Then we will turn a little northwest and head for Grenada about 60 miles away. By leaving this afternoon we will arrive early Tuesday morning. The weather is suppose to be beautiful with light winds. The current will be moving with us and it should be a great night for a sail.
Our SPOT will post to Facebook with our position every 3 to four hours while we are underway. If you click on this link a Google map will show our track from the time we leave the mooring field until we reach our anchorage.
