A REAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CRUISER

JUNE 24, 2014
RECIEPT IN PESOS (less than $ 900 US)

Today was another one of those big days aboard It's Perfect. Big spending days is what I mean. For the last couple of weeks the batteries have not been holding a charge as long as they have in the past. We replaced them last in Homa, Louisiana, April 2012. Replacing them now was not what we had planned, I have to remind myself it's a boat. Many repairs and replacements are not in the plan. After we finally got our minds around the idea we were off in search of 4 new batteries.

We have been advised by other cruisers to head to Pie De La Popa where we will find a section of town full of shops with everything for auto, boat, bicycle, motorcycle and home. We walked through the neighborhoods and past the huge mall where we buy our groceries. Soon we were on Lo Amador Cra., a 4 lane road with every type of motor vehicle racing in and out of lanes dodging pedestrians and donkey carts. We took our life in our hands just crossing to the far of the street through honking vehicles.

LOADED FOR DELIVERY

This street is home to blocks of shops who supply parts or repair almost anything on wheels. After several stops we were in Multi Electricos S.A.S., Expertos En Mantenimiento Automotriz. This was the first place we found name brand batteries and they had just what we needed. We are now the proud new owners of 4 maintenance free AC Delco Deep Cycle Batteries. The delivery truck pulled around, loaded them into the van and we were soon delivered back to Club Nautico along with our purchase. Now the chore of installation.

Just another day in the real life of a live aboard cruiser.
READY TO LOAD THE DINGHY
