It
has been 5 months since our cruise altering lightening strike.
Looking back is easier as time goes by. This was so random and
unexpected it literally took the wind out of us. The first few weeks
we were in a fog, unable to look forward or see our options clearly.
The feeling of being violated and the fear of the unknown was all
consuming. Slowly as we began to work through our list of things
wiped out, the fog began to lift. It has just been in the last few
weeks we are able to see our future cruising life again. We are now
looking forward to the new things to come.
We
will sail back to Portobello to provision and check out of Panama.
Then before the end of February we are off to Roatan one of the Bay Islands of Honduras about 750 miles. Our plan is still to bring It's Perfect back to the coast
of US this spring. It has been too long since we have seen family
and friends. It's Perfect is also in
need of a few repairs before we make a new plan and strike out on
another life changing adventure.
Whatever
we decide our new adventure to be, it will be an amazing addition to
the past 3 years living aboard. Our entire way of looking at life
has changed. We appreciate the small things, see things differently
and look forward to our much slower pace. Life on land is a challenge for us, the hustle of everyday life in the
cities that was normal to us before moving aboard is something we have to get use too all over again.
For now it is back to work, we are moving to the anchorage sometime this weekend and we are hoping to finish a few more things on the list. The weather is suppose to improve before the middle of next week and then we will be off on our overnight sail back to the familiar anchorage of Portobello and our adventures on the Chicken Bus to Colon.
