STILL ON THE DOCK

JANUARY 7, 2015

Here we are still on the dock at Red Frog Marina.  Still finishing up a few things on the list before we move out to the anchorage.  Our delay is due in part to Rod working for a living.  He has been doing contract electrical work on everything, big & small sailboats, marina issues, power boats and mega yachts.  He is booked into next week so our list has been put on the back burner.
KOO is a 140ft charter sailboat.
$110,000.00 will get you one week
all inclusive!

I can see how people get into the habit of living on the dock.  It is very convenient, power, water and laundry any time day or night.  After 2 years at anchor it did not take us long to settle into the routine of dock living.  Even though it has been nice for a change we are anxious to get back out on the hook.  The cool breeze off the water, the night sky and the quiet that settles around you.  These are just a few reasons we love being at anchor and of course the bonus of wearing less clothes.

Water, water every where.  The rain keeps on coming.

Bocas is a beehive of activity. Ever since the holidays people have been pouring into the small islands.  This is also the season for all the surfers to arrive.  The gale that has been blowing across the Caribbean from the east has brought record waves to the beaches of Bocas del Toro.  Literally everywhere you look there are young and old walking down the roads toward the beaches with their surf board under their arm.

In town it is a race at the groceries and the banks for supplies and money.  At the one cash machine the line is long and sometimes before you get to the front it has run out of money.  The groceries arrive on the island twice a week and if you are not there when they unload the truck at the store, most of the produce is gone.  Even milk, eggs and cheese are in short supply.  The water taxis leaves the dock 4 days a week for Bocas Town and are full to overflowing.  The ride back is even worse with all the provisions that are hauled aboard.

We are very tired of what everyone calls civilization.  It is past time for It's Perfect to be on the move.  It may be a couple of more weeks but we are looking forward to new surroundings.
