LAND HO! THE END OF A 3 YEAR CIRCUMNAVIGATION OF THE CARIBBEAN SEA |
We are now anchored in Key West Bight and are on a mooring ball. After a day of rest we made our way into town and had lunch with friends of David's from Minnesota, here on vacation. We were at the famous Pepe's Restaurant getting ready to leave and turned around to run right into Paul Boyd. We have known Paul since we moved the boat to Kemah in 2008. Rod helped Paul take his boat Momma Kat across the Gulf to Florida in Feb of 2012. It is a small world and it was great to see him.
David left It's Perfect yesterday and caught a plane for Kemah where he will meet Susan. They will spend the next 6 months or so working on his boat preparing her for the journey to the beautiful waters of Florida.
LUNCH AT PEPE'S |
Our stay here will depend on the weather that is now coming across from the east coast of Florida. By
the middle of next week we should be on our way north. Our plan is to make a stop in St Augustine for a few days, about 450 miles away and then on to Green Cove Springs.
In the meantime we have plenty to do. Before we pull It's Perfect out of the water we want to remove all the food and clothing from aboard, pull down all the sails and clear the decks. She will be stored on the hard for more than 6 months while we make plans for our next adventure.
On April 14, 3 years after leaving Kemah It's Perfect has completed a circumnavigation of the Caribbean Sea. It was a great adventure in which we met wonderful people and visited 14 new countries. While on dry land we will keep in touch with friends from around the world who are off on their own adventures. Soon we will begin our new plan for the next great adventure of our lives. It's Perfect will be waiting for our return.
