APRIL 22, 2012
As the sun rose over the ICW It’s Perfect pulled anchor at
7:30 AM & continuing our journey toward the east. The next stop is mile marker 160, Shell
Morgan Landing. The day is warmer than
the last two & the winds are calm.
The day has promise.
The banks of the ICW are alive with birds, turtles & trees hanging with Spanish Moss. They say this is prime
alligator country. Rod has been on
alligator watch for the past two days but has none to report. Very disappointing.
Today we followed a small skiff containing 2 elderly (I use
that term carefully) men & a pile of some kind of fish traps. After passing them more than once we found
them stopped by the bank. They were
pulling in one of their traps & it was full of HUGE catfish! Time for a fish fry.
We had a short day.
We pulled into Shell Morgan Landing mile marker 160 at 2:30 PM. Here we found fuel docks, fresh water & 2
transient docks available 1st come, first serve at the incredible price of $20.00 a night,
power included. We filled with fuel
& water. Then we settled into the
dock, plugged in the power & relaxed.
There is a small grocery store & a hardware store within a couple of
blocks but not much else. After barbecued chicken, baked potatoes & salad we called it a night.
