S/V It's Perfect is leaving the Watergate Marina on Saturday April 14, 2012. Our long time dream of sailing away is just days away! Both the car & the truck sold last week & we are officially pedestrians with bicycles. Wow! That really is a shock to the system! No changing our minds now.
Boat projects have been non stop since we moved aboard & we will still have many to finish after we leave. Most of the most important things are being finished this week.
The wind generator has been installed & we have purchased our gas powered generator. The bowsprit is being refinished & the pulpit is being moved to allow backing plates to be installed. Our dingy has been scrubbed & conditioned & is now back on the dingy davits. Rod is installing the motor mount for the dingy motor. All the spare gas, diesel & water containers have been filled & are now on deck. The project list gets shorter every day.
We have purchased most of our inventory of spare parts but still have a few things to get. I have spent the last month provisioning & making an inventory of all the food, paper goods and personal items aboard. After all this I think we need a VACATION!
Thursday we plan to stop working on projects & begin the process of making the boat ready to leave.
There will be last minute things to put away & make secure. Around noon on Saturday with both our son's watching, It's Perfect will leave this dock for the last time. We will activate the SPOT & mark our progress while underway about every 4 hours.
We will make our first anchorage near Galveston. After we check the weather, the boat systems & have dinner we will spend our first night of this long awaited adventure on the hook. From there we will make our way along the gulf coast to Florida & beyond.
The blog will be updated frequently & we hope you will all enjoy watching us as we travel.
OMG..... so happy for you!!! see you on the radio love you
