We came into the channel to Ft. Pierce, Florida yesterday about 3pm after a cool, calm day out on the Atlantic. We had flying fish, dolphin& fishing boats for company about 3 miles out.
DOWNTOWN |
After turning south on the ICW we anchored in a large cove on the east side of the channel. By 4PM we were set, sunshades up and a glass of wine in hand. A wonderful cool breeze is blowing from the east. The cove is so large there is plenty of space between boats.
We were up early, about 9AM & pulled ourselves together for a trip into town. We docked at the dinghy dock at the Ft. Pearce City Marina. Here it is free to dock unlike in Lake Worth where it was $10.00 a day to dock. Exercise is on our schedule for the day. We rode through part of downtown which is very close to the marina. Very small town feel, historic buildings, shops & restaurants with people eating at tables on the sidewalk. We were on a mission so we did not stop.
The mission today was West Marine for small parts, Ace Hardware for a new propane regulator & a office supply or UPS to have paperwork printed, signed & sent. Of course we ended up at Staples on US Highway 1, which was more than 2 miles south. Then 3 1/2 miles north to West Marine & the hardware store. I believe we traveled at least 8 miles round trip. This was one day we should have taken along the SPOT, or maybe a car.
Back on the It's Perfect, exhausted, at 5:30PM. Sundown is the only thing left on our agenda for today. We will stay in Ft. Pierce at least till Sunday to put some of the new parts into service.
SUNDOWN FT. PIERCE |
I'm exhausted just reading that. I think I'll have a glass of wine now.
