We left our anchorage on the Edisto River about 10:30AM, the water levels are coming up as the tide comes in. The ICW is shallow enough without trying to maneuver it at low tide.
We have chosen an anchorage for the night just south of Charleston, Edge Water Park. It is not much to look at but there is a lot of room. We anchored in 17ft of water expecting a 5ft tide. We are well off the channel & there is little traffic. After a short day on the water we called it a day.
Saturday we slept late & pulled the anchor at 10:30AM. We will be going through Elliot's Cut, just a couple of miles to Charleston. The bridge that crosses that waterway opens on the half hour.
65FT FIXED BRIDGE INTO THE ANCHORAGE OFF THE CITY DOCK |
We are to meet John & Sharon on Sun Bow, a 48ft catamaran, already anchored just across the waterway from the Charleston City Marina. We met John while on our way out of Marathon, Florida. Now we will get to meet Sharon.
SUN BOW AT ANCHOR |
By noon we are anchored at the west end of the anchorage. There are about 20 boats here, some look to be permanent fixtures. There are also two sunken sailboats, this is not the most desirable anchorage we have been to but the holding is good & we are soon settled in.
MINE GAMES AT THE CHARLESTON CITY MARINA |
Rod took the dinghy to the marina for ice & we settled down to a quiet afternoon of watching the boats go by. There is a Bill Fishing Tournament going on & the water is full of all kinds & sizes of boats. The traffic began to die down as the sun went down. Tomorrow we will spend another quiet day on the boat & meet Sharon & John at the Crab House for dinner. Monday will be the day to tour the streets of Charleston on our bikes.
