Thursday
– It is a beautiful day with light winds & we have much to be
thankful for. Yesterday after going into town with friends, Rod
decided to give the dinghy motor one more try. A little of this &
a little of that & OMG!!!!!! One pull on the line &
ignition. After giving up hope that this very important part of our
cruising life had died forever, it started.
Now
we have no illusions. It is past time to purchase some very
expensive but much needed spare parts so that we can sleep a little
better at night. This phenomenon might last forever, but probably
not. Hopefully next time we will have the extra parts to make the
job easier.
The
plan now is early tomorrow morning Its Perfect will weigh anchor &
head south. I know you have heard that before...... this time I
think we are going. We will leave behind some good friends here in
Georgetown that will be heading north & we will catch up with
some friends that have already started south.
Depending
on wind we will either travel to Conception Island or if we are moving fast
enough Rum Island. They both have beautiful beaches, great wildlife,
reefs & clear water.
Our
trip south will include a couple of long overnight sails if the
weather permits. We are still about 1000 miles north of the Virgin Islands. The end of May we are suppose to rendezvous with Craig,
Angela, Skip & even Ol' Dave somewhere around Tortola in the
Virgins. It will be nice to see friends from our old dock &
catch up on all that is happening in Texas.
