Yesterday David rose early & headed
off to climb the Petit Piton before grabbing his duffel & taking
a taxi to the airport. He returned just before 11am a muddy mess.
The weather had not cooperated, rain showers followed him up the
steep trail making hanging on to tree roots to help him up difficult.
He did not make it to the summit but was very pleased with his
progress making it ¾ of the way up before he was forced to turn
back.
After a quick shower, he grabbed his
bag & we were off to the dock. With the taxi waiting we said
quick goodbye's & he disappeared from sight.

Rod & I spent the afternoon looking
around the small town that is tucked in between the bay & the
foot of a dark green mountain. The locals all speak English with a
heavy Caribbean accent that is hard to understand & they were
very friendly & helpful. The narrow paved streets are lined with
small shops & businesses. Within blocks of the waterfront we
found a grocery, hardware store, liquor store, bakery, clothing
store, restaurants & more.
St Lucia is the largest of the Windward
islands, tropical rainforest covers the steep slopes of the interior
mountains. We will stay put waiting for a weather window to move
south, we are 145 miles from our anchorage in Grenada. While we are
here we plan to see some of the forests, waterfalls & gardens
that make this such a beautiful island.
