NEW NEIGHGORS IN GRENADA

MT HARTMAN BAY ANCHORAGE

We have moved from Prickly Bay over to Mt Hartman Bay, just around the corner.  There are around 50 other boats anchored around us.  By anchoring here we are a little further away from public transportation, but have more room between us & our neighbors.  There is a reef at the entrance of the bay that should give us some excellent snorkeling adventures.

SOUTH AMERICA
We have already seen several Leatherback Turtles surface near the boat.

The Leatherback Turtle lays its eggs on the northern beaches of the island, mostly between April & July.  There is a group going next week to stake out a patch of beach after dark & wait to see if they are lucky enough to see a Leatherback come ashore to nest.  We will be on the beach with them in hopes of seeing one of these huge turtles.

Since we arrived we have been slowly checking things off The List.  Permanent installation of GPS & WI-FI antennas, clean all filters, install a pancake fan on the intake vent for the refrigerator compressor, serviced the batteries & added an extra 100ft of anchor rode to the anchor chain.  Rod also removed the dinghy davits, swim ladder & helm wheel, then had them welded at weak points & reinstalled them on the boat.  Just a few things in the daily reality of the cruising life.

We have not been off the boat since moving,  we are waiting for a break in the winds & showers.  There is a tropical wave slowing making its way over us to the north east.  In a few more days it should calm down & then we will take time off for seeing a few more sights.  The rum factory is high on Rod's list of things to see.

AMAZING RESTAURANT ON THE HILLSIDE

Living aboard creates as many chores as living in a house.  They are certainly different, but they keep us busy.  I have recently given some thought to what we miss not living in a house on solid land.  The list was short & mostly had to do with being able to see the kids & friends on a regular basis.  Running to the store at any hour, not having to have our mail forwarded & for me having air conditioning any time I want it also made the list.  These are a few of the trade offs we make for the ability to get up on any given day & look out at the wonders of a new world, meet new people & when we get

the notion, to pick up & go wherever we let the wind take us.
