L'ANSE-AUX-EPINES - A WALK TO THE POINT

AUGUST 22, 2013

LESS THAN 100 MILES
TO SOUTH AMERICA
We are working hard on our list of things to do before heading back home to see family & friends.  Since the list is extensive, to our dismay, we will have plenty to do when we return.  Today Rod is making water which we do about twice a week, finishing the installation of the emergency bilge pump & organizing the storage cabinets in the boson's locker.  This afternoon we will slip into the 88 degree water & take a break for a little snorkeling.  You can't work all the time.

Mt Hartman Bay

We took the day off on Monday & left the boat for what we thought was going to be a short hike up through L'anse-Aux-Epines.  This peninsula is on Grenada's southern most coast sheltered by coral reefs overlooking beautiful aqua blue water, white sand beaches with Prickly Bay on one side & Mt Hartman Bay on the other.

We donned our tennis shoes & were off, turning up the hill onto Mt Hartman Drive into the affluent neighborhoods.  We walked up & down hills, along small lanes fronting small resorts, large villas & small homes.  The scenery looked just like it came from a travel magazine.  Most lanes off the main roads end in a spectacular view  of the harbor.

THE CAVE RESTAURANT AT
MT HARTMAN BAY ESTATE
One of our stops was at Mt Hartman Bay Estate.  This is one of the most exclusive Boutique hotels & restaurants in Grenada & It's Perfect is anchored just below in the harbor.  It has only 11 suites with every amenity you can think of. The staff was extremely nice, allowing us to tour the restaurant, lobby & decks overlooking the property & bay.  If I could have a dream weekend (other than on It's Perfect) it would be here.  The view from the balcony is spectacular, the sea breeze cool & restaurant the fabulous.

We made our way to the end of L'anse-Aux-Epines Rd, to Prickly Point which overlooks Prickly Bay on one side & a sheer cliff of rock to that drops straight down to the ocean, waves crashing into the rocks below on the other.

It was time to make, our way back down the meandering lanes to the dinghy & It's Perfect. By that time we were HOT, SWEATY & ready for a dip in the water & a tall cold drink in the cockpit.  The breeze off the water was cool & as the sun went down, it was the end of another day in paradise.

IT'S PERFECT FROM THE TOP
