OUR VIEW FROM IT'S PERFECT |
Most of the days here in Grenada start the same way. Rod is usually at the helm at 7:30 am ready to listen to the Cruisers Net on the VHF. After general announcements the mike is open to anyone that wishes to contribute information. The local restaurants & businesses announce the hours they are open, specials, happy hour & sometimes half price pizza. Once that is complete cruisers chip in with events, excursions, problems, questions, things for sale or free & arrivals or departures from the area. This morning Rod missed the enormous amount of information forth coming from local cruisers, we slept late.

US EMBASSY ON LANCE AUX EPINES
ON OUR WAY DOWN TO TOWN |
We are now trying to walk our way into better shape. After finding ourselves in extremely bad shape after our climb of the Gros Piton, in St Lucia, we decided it was time for a change. Every other day we are walking to accomplish all our errands. This means that we must walk up & down all the hills between our anchorage & town, then carry our purchases back. Our stops include Ace Hardware, Budget Marine, IGA grocery, KC grocery, the vegetable market & a local shop for a Smoothie. We sometimes take advantage of the trip & do a little sight seeing, last week we stopped at the beautiful white sand of the
Grand Anse Beach.

GORGEOUS WHITE SAND
CLEAR BLUE WATER |
The round trip is usually between 3 to 4 miles and takes between 2 & 3 hours to complete. Two of the hills are extremely steep. In the beginning, I was unable to reach the top without stopping & gasping for breath. Just recently that has changed & I am able to reach the top in one climb & gasp for breath at the top. I must be improving! When we are back on the boat it is time for a dip in the ocean to cool off. Daytime temp's top off in the high 80's with a light breeze, the water is a very warm 88 degrees.
There are 4 boats anchored near us & the ladies aboard spend an hour in the water most afternoons on their Noodles, trading gossip. I have yet to join in but I am giving it great consideration, I just might have some new gossip they have not heard. By late afternoon the breeze has cooled off & it is quite pleasant in the cockpit, just in time to watch the sunset.

HEADING TO THE MARINA |
One beautiful day flows into the next & you look up & a week has gone by. I am beginning to understand how cruisers end up staying in one place for months & sometimes years. Life on the hook, in clear blue water off a lovely island can become as comfortable as life in a house on Tucker Street. The scenery, is much, much different.
Hey, Linda - haven't you heard? It's NOT gossip, it's networking!!
ReplyDeleteHey I am way, way behind the times. You are quite right, it could be called networking........ I guess I need to jump right in with my noodle!
