OUR LAST NIGHT ABOARD

New Mexico is beautiful.  Being surrounded by sand & rock mountains is much different from being surrounded by the water of the islands.  Both different, both wonderful.  Back on dry land it has taken some adjusting.  There are more stores, traffic lights, cars, news, people & noise than we are use to.  It's a sensory invasion, some of which we have not missed at all.

BEFORE

Gardening was a great passion of mine in my life on land & here at the Herman household, I have again found the pleasure of getting dirty.  There is nothing like being on your knees with your hands digging in the warm moist earth.  The instant gratification of a finished flower bed still makes me smile.
This weekend my brothers will be coming into town to visit & are asking about our plans for the future.  It is kind of hard for people who do not live the life of a cruiser to understand how different our minds work, (or don't).  We have a tentative, general idea of what will happen next after returning to It's Perfect.  A solid plan with a timeline is something we left behind, when leaving the dock in Texas.

Our lives aboard are so different from life in the USA, it's a little overwhelming.  Being here in New Mexico & spending time with family & life long friends is great.  Cutting the dock lines has made our visits home few & far between.   Someday, we will return to stay.
