HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRENADA

DECEMBER 28, 2013
LEAVE YOUR BOAT FOR TOO LONG AND YOU MIGHT RETURN TO THIS
The weather did not cooperate with us so we spent Christmas in Grenada.  The day was cloudy, with a light breeze and a few showers.  It was quiet here on It's Perfect, we got up late and moved through the day slowly.  With a Mariah Carey CD playing in the cockpit, Rod treated the entire anchorage to a song over the VHF, All I Want for Christmas is You.

By mid afternoon it was time to do a little cooking.  We have been invited to Peregrine for Christmas dinner.  Peregrine is the boat we crossed the Mona Passage with, from The Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico.   I took baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, along with 2 bottles of wine to help celebrate.  With the addition of peas, dressing, cranberry sauce, cookies and cake, we all ate far too much.  Our travels were the topic of conversation.  David and Libby spent this hurricane season in Trinidad and will be in the same area as It's Perfect for about the next year.  Running into them in St Lucia, Dominica or St Martin is almost a certainty.  We thoroughly enjoyed the company and it was late when we returned across the anchorage to It's Perfect.

LOCAL LIMES COLLECTED FROM THE TREE
Rod walked over to Prickly Bay and is in the Customs office clearing out of Grenada.  It looks like our weather window is here and we have been preparing It's Perfect for the journey.  When the boat is stationary for a long time, we tend to make ourselves at home.  Getting everything put away and the decks cleared has been a chore.  Our plan is to leave about 2:30, heading west to Trinidad.  It is only ninety miles but with the current running against us it could take as much as 18 hours to get there.  We will travel through the night arriving to clear in at Customs in  the early morning.

Once we reach Trinidad we will be less than 10 miles from South America and Venezuela.  We have been told the Internet service there is not as good as in Grenada.  It might take us a while to be back on line.  Our SPOT will be on, you can click the SPOT link at the side of the Blog and follow us on our passage.  We will spend a few weeks seeing the sights and meeting new people.  Trinidad is said to be a much better place to provision and pick up needed parts.

Next stop for a Blog, Trinidad.  Have a very Happy New Year!
