LEAVING IT'S PERFECT TO PICK UP MORE HARDWARE |
We spent the last several days completing a few of the things on the famous list. Several months ago Rod got four replacement stanchion bases to replace some that were in very bad condition. This turned into a bigger job than we remembered. Of course the bolt hole patterns are not the same as the old stanchions so..... the backing plates came out from under the deck to be drilled again. To accomplish this 4 separate cabinets were unloaded and one air conditioning duct disassembled in order to reach the bolts holding the stanchions thru the backing plates.

MUCH BETTER
|
Everyone with a boat understand this us much harder than it sounds. Needless to say it was celebration time when Rod completed this task and was able to move on the next.
The next thing up was getting out the handy sewing machine. I repaired some zippers on the enclosure and made new fender covers. Rod also engineered new tie down straps for the dinghy while on the davits and a new attachment for Rod's offshore harness to keep him attached to the main mast while raising the sail offshore. These sewing project kept us busy for the nearly 2 days. I must say, I am not in a hurry to pull that machine out again for a long time.

NEW FENDER COVERS |
In the middle of all of this, Rod filled the water tanks. A job we had gladly left behind when Bob took over the making of water. Here the water is far too dirty to make water and we pickled Bob the week we arrived. Late in the afternoon he went below to make us a drink and much to our dismay the floor in the galley was wet. The water pump was running and there was a hissing sound coming out of the engine compartment. Then the other bilge pumps came on!! Yes, one of the clamps on the water heater had worked it's way loose and the entire water tank had emptied into the bilge. Not good. Just one more thing in an ongoing list of what keeps us from being bored aboard It's Perfect. The good news is that all 3 bilge pumps have been properly tested and are working fine.
Love the book CONGRATULATIONS. Stanchions look great another great job by you guys. Where will you head this year? Kent
