PROVISIONING IN TRINIDAD

BOATS OF TRINIDAD PASS OFF THE PORT
Some would think we must be just relaxing in the cockpit, watching the events of Trinidad go by.  Well this is not completely the truth.  Last Friday we went to Coral Cove Marina here in the bay for the weekly pot-luck.  There was a good crowd and great food.  Most of these cruisers are spending their time in the few small marinas or on the hard having work done on their boats.

Steve and Cindy on Bad Kitty were there, we met them in Grenada at pizza night in Prickly Bay.  They will stay here thru Carnival in March and they like it so much they are thinking of staying for hurricane season.   Bethany and Bren, two of the teenagers Rod played volley ball with in Mt Hartman Bay, are here aboard Cape with their parents.  Their mom came to the pot-luck , but the kids and dad were at a planning meeting for a fishing tournament they are entering.  The cruising community in these islands is large, it seems we always see a familiar face

THE SHOPPING BUS AWAITS
THE KIDS SPOKE ONLY GERMAN
We have spent the last couple of weeks doing big runs to the Price Smart, the equivalent to Sam's in the US.  It is just beginning  to fill some of the empty storage in the provisions locker.  The maxi taxi goes on Wednesday's leaving at 9:30 and returning about noon.  You can buy as much as you can afford and they gladly pack it into the bus and drop it at the dinghy dock.  One or two more trips and we will have part of the depleted provisions back aboard.

OUR SECOND BIG LOAD FROM PRICE SMART

Today the bus was full and they called for a second bus.  For the return trip they had to call in a third bus to carry all the purchases.  There were a few people we have not seen before.  A family from Germany, a couple from England and several women on their own.  Getting it from the dock onto the boat and put away is harder than it sounds.  Time for some hammock time.
