IT'S PERFECT LEFT KEMAH, TEXAS 2 YEARS AGO

LEAVING DOCK 23
PASSING THE KEMAH BOARDWALK
Yesterday was a big day here on It's Perfect.   2 years ago on April 14, 2012 It's Perfect cut the dock lines and left Texas behind to see a few new places in the world.  We now have 10 stamps in our passports.  It is so hard to believe we have been gone 2 years.  Our time sailing the coast of the US was a huge learning experience and the day we left the security of the American Coast was a big step.  We traded the coastal waters of the US for the beautiful blue water of the Caribbean.  Our next big step is to sail the 800 miles to Cartagena, Colombia.  So very much has changed in our lives in the past two years and we are looking forward to our next big adventure.

NOW IN THE BLUE WATER OF THE CARIBBEAN
The wind is what is still keeping us in Mt Hartman Bay waiting for the seas to settle.  It is hard to feel stuck when in such a beautiful place.  We have been watching weather systems continue to pass through the Caribbean, mostly with winds 25 to 35 knots.  Now that is not bad when at anchor in a great bay, but out in open water it makes for an uncomfortable ride.  On our short trip from Trinidad we had waves of 6 to 8 feet, rolling over the bow of the boat and winds above 30 knots most of the trip.  It was a long wet sail.

There is good news, it appears the wind is finally going to settle down.    The winds are suppose to calm around the first of next week.  It looks like we may have a weather window beginning on Monday that should give us calmer seas to make the 3 to4 day passage to Bonaire.  This 400 mile passage will take us just about half way to our destination of Cartagena, Colombia, 900 miles away.

We have been working on our unending list and made some progress.  We have added over
250lbs. of concrete ballast to the keel and created a large flat surface for storage at the same time.  This is just one of the many things that finally got checked off the list.  The list seems never ending but like the weather we take it one day at a time.
