FIRST WALKING TOUR OF CARTAGENA

I GUESS NO ONE IS
AFRAID OF HEIGHTS
It's Perfect has been here in Cartagena for a week.  Along with getting a few things done on the boat we have spent a little time taking in the sights.  Last weekend the Tall Ships arrived for the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Cartagena.  We watched from the deck of It's Perfect as they arrived, flags flying and yardarms filled with sailors.  It was quite a celebration indeed.

We have spent a couple of days walking the historic Walled City. The colors, architecture and statues are something to behold.   It will take many more days to see the wonderful historic sights.

Old cemeteries are one of my favorite places to walk.  This one filled a city block right in our neighborhood.  The wealthy are laid to rest with elaborate statues and the poor fill long cobblestone alley ways stacked 4 high.

Rod is spending a good deal of Louis's free time working on his Spanish.  You have no idea how little you know until you cannot understand a thing anyone is saying.  We had to get an interpreter to talk to the alternator mechanic.  Once he understood the problem there was nothing to it.  Life aboard in the harbor has settled into a slow routine and we are slowly learning the lay of the land.
