ALMOST BACK TO NORMAL

PORTOBELO FROM THE TOP GARRISON OF THE FORT
SEPTEMBER 24, 2014
After the initial shock of our lightening strike, life aboard It's Perfect is getting back to normal.  Last week we received our first box of parts from the US.  Craig and Angela have been a world of help receiving parts and forwarding them on to Panama.  We received our new AIS radio, inverter, GPS and new carburetors for the Honda generators.  Within a couple of days Rod had everything installed and life aboard is almost back to normal.  Having a working inverter makes living aboard much more comfortable.  All our plugs now work, using small appliances and keeping batteries charged is finally back to normal.  It is the little things that make a huge difference in the quality of life aboard.

We found a used radar scanner in Portobelo and Rod was soon up the mast to get it installed.  Our new auto pilot has been ordered and will arrive in the next 2 to 3 weeks.  Because our boat is in transit we are able to skip paying 17% taxes on all new parts coming in through Customs.  the last package that arrived cleared customs without them seeing our boat papers.  Hopefully the next package will clear just as smoothly.

PANAMA CANAL IN THE DISTANCE

Our days are spent doing all the regular chores of life aboard.  Laundry, buying groceries, finding working internet and trying to keep the mildew in check.  It rains everyday and sometimes all day.  We will be glad when the end of rainy season comes and everything dries out.

Yesterday we took the morning and climbed to the top of the small mountain and the top garrison overlooking the anchorage.  We certainly need the exercise and the view was beautiful.  You could see the boats waiting in line to enter the Panama Canal in the distance.
