LIFE ON THE BALL IN ST AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA

ST AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA
I am way behind in getting this blog up to date.  Time to play catch up. After a 3 day passage we arrived in the St Augustine mooring field with light winds and partly cloudy skies.  We picked up a ball on the north side of the Bridge of Lions and settled down to put the boat in order and go into the marina to check in.

ST AUGUSTINE MOORING FIELD
We will be here a week or more getting It's Perfect ready for storage on the hard in Green Cove Springs, just past Jacksonville on the St. Johns River.  It should take us a short day up the ICW to the Free City  Dock where we will spend the night then about 4 hours on to the marina in Green Cove Springs.

Long time friends Larry & Pam are here waiting our arrival.  It's a small world living on a boat.  It's Perfect was just across the dock in Watergate Marine Center, Kemah, Texas from Southern Girl while we all worked toward our dreams of leaving Texas behind for a much bigger world.  More than 3 years after our departure we are again in the same marina and will soon be sharing our dreams of life aboard.  Can't wait to catch up.

After checking in, it is time for a much needed nap before we venture into the beautiful town of St. Augustine and sit down for sundowners with good friends.  A short trip to Southern Girl on the ball on the other side of the bridge and it will be just like old times.

It did not take long for the word to get out!  We have other friends from Dock 23 in Watergate here in Florida and it will be a big reunion here in St Augustine.  On Saturday Dick and Sammy of SV Island Time  and Martha and Terry of MV Brendon  arrived and we spent the day learning all about their adventures while filling them in on lightening strikes, pirate attacks and our 6 day passage from San Andres to Key West.  What a great time.  We were so pleased we were able to see them.

The life of living aboard is a far cry from life on land and all the friends we have made over the years are so important to us.  It is truly a special kind of friendship that is made between people sharing this life on the water.
