LAST LOOK AT ST AUGUSTINE |
We spent more than a week in St Augustine. Two days before leaving the mooring field, John and Yolanda aboard SV Yo Ho arrived. It has been more than a year since seeing this great couple in Grenada. It was time for Happy Hour aboard It's Perfect. Larry and Pam came over to meet John and Yolanda and before the night was over everyone was fast friends.
Work continued aboard while we waited out weather. The boat is looking pretty empty. Our goal of being ready for haul out in Green Cove Springs is almost a reality. After 10 days on the ball we said goodbye to all our friends and it was time to move on. It was a tedious long day on the ICW and we finally arrived in Jacksonville, Florida and tied up on the free City Dock just outside HOOTERS. The boardwalk was busy with locals and we were the only boat on the dock. After making sure everything was secure we made ourselves at home and settled in for the night.

Next morning we were off for our 4 hour trip to the marina where It's Perfect will patiently wait for our return. After living aboard for the last 3 years we are taking a break from life on the water to spend about 8 months on dry land. It is past time we saw family and friends back in New Mexico and Texas.
The Green Cove Springs Marina is just what we expected. It is a working yard, people busy preparing their boats for storage. We recognized several boats from other far away places and we fit right in spending every waking moment on a list of things that must be done. The time flew by and on Wednesday morning May 13th we offloaded our suitcases and It's Perfect was hauled out of the water. Watching from the dock it is hard to explain my feeling of apprehension. Living on land is something we will slowly get use to.
