THE PECAN ORCHARD ON IRRIGATION DAY |
11 days ago we finally arrived at the El Paso airport at 1:30 am. We were delayed in departure and delayed again at our connection. The good news is we arrived along with our luggage and Glenn & Sherrie braved the late hour to pick us up curbside for the 45 min. trip to their home in the pecan orchard outside Las Cruces, New Mexico.

ROD HAS GONE FROM CAPTAIN TO FARMER WITH LITTLE EFFORT |
After a very long first day with little sleep, we woke to the beautiful clear blue skies over the Oregon Mountains. We quickly remembered what we love about this part of the country. The air was so crisp and clear, the skies and mountains so many shades of blue it was breathtaking. True it is vastly different from the amazing colors of the Caribbean, but in a different way it is just as spectacular.

CHECKING THE TREES WITH GLENN |
Our first week was filled with getting settled into the reality of life on land. It was overwhelming in many ways, the pace of life is so.......different. Not necessarily bad, just so different. The pace of normal coming and going, shopping, traffic, radio, phones, TV, news and people is astounding. Rod has settled in quicker and seems happy with watching this much different world speed by. I on the other hand am exhausted by the end of every day.

IT'S PERFECT TWO ON DELIVERY DAY |
At the end of the first week we were on the road headed to Albuquerque to pick up our Land Yacht. I was soon met by my two brothers, Gunner who lives there and Bob who lives in Los Alamos and has had It's Perfect Two parked waiting for our return. It is better than we remembered. 30 ft. from front to back it has about the same living space as It's Perfect. There are many good things about owning a motor home, the first, it gives us our own home on the roads of America. It also has a WALK AROUND QUEEN SIZED BED and a UPRIGHT REFRIGERATOR! This may not seem so wonderful to some, but if you have ever lived without these things you will understand my excitement. Leaving It's Perfect behind is still seems a huge loss to us, having our own small space on dry land makes it seem less devastating.

DINNER WITH GUNNER, JESSICA, BOB AND BONNIE
GREAT TO HAVE REAL AMERICAN FOOD! |
After almost two weeks here in the trees, Glenn and Sherrie are almost ready to leave their home in the orchard in our care. We are excited about the prospect of coffee on the porch in the morning with humming birds darting around the feeders and the dove flying through the orchard.
