Our stay in Kemah was great. Great friends and good times. While we were parked at Home Depot a couple of weeks ago, we became the hit of the Classic Car Show. After we arrived we were soon surrounded by great old cars and the proud owners. Kind of reminds me of hanging out with boat owners. We met many people who were refurbishing their 2nd, 3rd or even 4th car. One man pulled up right next to us in a 1940 Ford Coupe. He has been working on it since the late 1970's. Sounds like many a person with an old boat. All were just as much in love with their cars as boaters are with boats. Many stories were told of time, money and hours invested in their dreams. It sounded like the talk on the dock with boat owners, we felt right at home.
Our friend Skip is getting Prodigal, his 46ft Morgan ready to sail and Rod has been working on the boat. Skip is making many improvements including new electronics, enclosure and ports. The plan is to be living on the hook in the beautiful waters of Florida in June. Another adventure will begin.
We have finished our time in Kemah and said goodbye to great friends. We must say thanks to Craig and Angela for opening their home to us, David and Sue for a weeklong stay at Legend Point Marina, Skip for many great times of lunch and diner and Sven and Maxine for the use of her car for a week. All these people made us feel right at home. Our minds are already back with It's Perfect and all the things to be done when we arrive in Green Cove Springs. Living aboard the RV has been great and we are now ready to head East.
Our first stop was in McKinney to say goodbye to friends and family. After two nights we were off, the first stop 2 nights in Jackson Creek Corp of Engineers Park at Lake O' the Pines, Texas. Ahhhhh.... finally out of the cities where the air is clean. Our stay was short but extremely relaxing. A bike ride to the store and an evening walk around the campground. Reminds us of our nightly dock walks at marinas.
CAPTAIN ROD AND BUDDY AS FIRST MATE |
We are now in Marksville, Louisiana for the night. Tomorrow on to Mississippi. Who knows what we will find along the way.
