JANUARY 23, 2016
I know many of you think we have dropped off the face of the earth. No..... we are alive and well, living aboard our traveling home here on dry land in Kemah, Texas. Since my last blog we have indeed been busy and our trek towards It's Perfect in Green Cove Springs, Florida has been very slow.
OUR FIRST VISIT WITH DREW & ALEX
|
We spent the final months of 2015 with family and friends in McKinney, Tyler, Conroe and Katy, Texas. Life has changed since our departure in 2012. Our children are all happy and well, life has certainly not stood still just because we have been gone. Our granddaughter Kayla and husband Jordan introduced us to our first great grandchildren. Yes it will happen to you too someday and you will not be old enough either. Brad is now married to April and they are living in Conroe. Paul is again working offshore and is currently off the coast of Egypt. He makes monthly visits back home in Katy to see his wife Theresa and son Noah. Lindsy is thriving and very busy with college and work.
Rod has been working while here in Kemah and our spare time is spent with great friends. Last Sunday we took advantage of the beautiful day and sailed with Craig and Angela aboard their 40ft Catalina. Being aboard with the wind in the sails and the choppy water all around felt much like home. Past time to go back to our boat. We hope to be able to wrap up our affairs here in the next couple of weeks. Then finally we will be back on the road to Florida and It's Perfect.
ROD AND THE OTHER DUNCAN MEN BRAD & PAUL |
Our days seem to disappear even faster than they did while traveling the Caribbean. It's hard to believe we have been off It's Perfect for almost 10 months. We have begun the chore of making our list of projects that must be done before she goes back into the water. While here in Kemah we are taking advantage of the many marine suppliers along the coast. Our pile of parts is growing almost daily and we have more on order. This reminds us of the many days spent working and dreaming about the day It's Perfect would be finished and our life aboard would begin.
A new chapter will soon begin, one that will surprise us all. Most of the time life aboard seems to move slower than on land and the noises you hear are the wind in the rigging and the water under the keel. We are looking forward to living the "Good Life" once more with all its beautiful water, new places and friends. One thing is certain, living aboard is never boring.
All of you sailors know this old saying.
"If it's going to happen, it's going to happen out there."
Rod and I are living proof that if you think it won't happen to you, you don't live on a boat. Even with all that has happened in our travels, we can't wait to get back aboard It's Perfect.
