ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA, A WALKABOUT

JUNE 23, 2012

Our stay in St. Augustine has been extended by a couple of days due to tropical storm
Debby.  We have been watching the weather & it does not appear that we will see much weather after tomorrow, but staying put is good.  This has given us some time for a little catch up on our biking tour.

ST. AUGUSTINE MUNICIPAL MARINA
Thursday we did all the errands we could think of.  Parts store, grocery store, West Marine & of course the local ice cream shop.

Yesterday Rod changed the oil in the engine while I did a little more work on the enclosure.  There is an amazing amount of small regular jobs that have to be done.  Friends of mine ask me how I was going to deal with the boredom.  Well,  I have not had time to be bored.  Before you know the day is gone & you are getting ready for the next.

SUNSET THE BRIDGE OF LIONS

Today was overcast, with a little rain.  We decided sightseeing would be a good idea.  Once we reached the main dock in the marina, Historic Downtown, St. Augustine is across the street.  This is a very popular vacation town.  We have talked to people from all over the country & Canada.  On this Saturday the streets were busy with pedestrians, horse drawn carriages, tour buses & of course bicycles.

ORIGINAL BRICK STREETS

The historic downtown is full of art galleries, museums & wonderful shops of all kinds.  It is a beautiful place to just walk the streets & listen to the people.  Then at the end of the afternoon, you can sit at a table on the sidewalk & have a relaxing glass of wine.
