SUNSET IN THE ASHLEY MARINA |
We arrived back on It's Perfect last night at midnight, way past our bedtime. The long day of travel was exhausting. It was great seeing family & friends in Texas & New Mexico, but we were very ready to head home. Once back in our familiar surroundings, with water beneath our keel life came back into focus. We slept until almost noon today, the best night of sleep since we left the boat. Who would have thought living on a boat for more than a year would make living on land seem so different.
It has been rainy & cool since we got in, a good day to stay in & gather our thoughts. Tomorrow THE LIST will come out & we will again focus on getting ready to leave. Many things left to do, so little time. We are looking forward to our approaching departure.
We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family & friends. We will have turkey & dressing right here on the boat. Maybe even some pumpkin pie, all the comforts of home. Being away from the boat even for a short time, makes us even more aware that we really are at home when aboard It's Perfect.
Glad you are home!
ReplyDeleteYour comment about pumpkin pie brought back fond memories of Thanksgiving down island...
1. I finally dragged out my Pyrex pie pan a year into the trip, only to discover that the oven door would not close with the pie pan I had so thoughtfully chosen for life aboard. Good thing baby is not a quiche fan.
2. I volunteered to help my friend cook Thanksgiving for 30 down in Grenada. We were planning to introduce the usual meal to our foreign friends. A rigorous search of every grocery store on the island and failure to find canned yams revealed that the shipment was held up in customs. Suspicous looking yams, doncha know.
Looking forward to hearing of adventures south.
