NORTH PALM BEACH ANCHORAGE

JANUARY 24, 2013

SUNRISE FT. PIERCE

After anchoring in Ft. Pierce we rose early & were on our way to North Palm Beach, Fla. by 7am.

It was a beautiful day with a steady 10+ knots breeze.  The morning was cool, as the day progressed the temp rose to the high 60's.  Today we have 9 bridges, 3 were fixed & 4 opened on demand & the last 3 opened on the half hour.

There was much more traffic on the canal today.  We saw boats from Canada, England, Ohio, Houston, Texas, N & S Carolina, Florida, Georgia & more.  Dolphin were abundant, much larger than further north.  Some had very small baby's with 3 or more adults swimming around, over & under the young.  Some places it looked like the water was boiling with every size of dolphin.

The day got so warm it was time for shorts.  Might be almost the last of long pants weather!  We passed under the final bridge at 3:45pm & turned left into Lake Worth to anchor  in the North Palm Beach anchorage off the Old Port Cove Marina.  A beautiful setting, 30 or more sail & power boats already at anchor & there is still plenty of room.  After setting the anchor we took our glass of wine to the cockpit to survey our new surroundings.  The water temp is up to 72 degrees, still not bath water but it's getting there.
