LEAVING PONCE

MAY 13, 2013

We were up early to find our water tanks dry, there is a leak in one of the heads.  Oh the joys of living on a sail boat.  Rod will attack the problem to see if we have parts to repair it with.  Then we will finish filling with diesel & water.  We will leave early tomorrow, headed towards Culebra.

Last night we were joined by a 200+ft commercial Bulk Carrier.  They quietly docked close by & tonight all their deck lights are blazing.  They make good neighbors, except for the hum of the motor we don't hear a thing.

Success... the water leak is fixed & our anxiety level has diminished.  While Rod searched high & low for the leak he found a new bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila & a new bottle of Margarita mix.  Funny thing is, I thought there was a bottle aboard but after looking everywhere I gave up.  Rod emptied a cabinet full toilet paper & found the prize!  It was just like Christmas!  There is nothing like a good Margarita.

We have had a great time in Ponce and are looking forward to seeing a little more of Puerto Rico before keeping our scheduled rendezvous with friends in Tortola.  For the next several days the weather will be partly cloudy with light winds, water temp is 88.  We are now in the Tropics where the temperatures should only vary by 10 degrees, usually 75 to 85.  It is pretty warm down here & we have used the air conditioning at night to cool off the boat for sleeping.   AHHH... the finer comforts of home. Can't leave home without some of the more important things of life.
