We arrived in Bocas del Toro mid afternoon on October 26 mid afternoon. Dauphin and Jody were at anchor outside Red Frog Marina and we were soon anchored close by. Bocas is a group of islands off the north western coast of Panama which are fast becoming the place to be for visitors of Panama.
SUNSET AT RED FROG MARINA |
It soon began to rain and we settled in for the night. We stayed at anchor for 3 days while we got our bearings and on Wednesday the 29th we moved into the Red Frog Marina. This is a new facility with great docks, laundry, internet and showers. Water costs 5 cents a gallon and the power is metered. The marina fees are quite reasonable compared to the ones in Colon at $10 a foot. It was not long before Rod was back in business doing some electrical work for the marina to offset our fees.
After a trip into town for groceries we are finding our way around the island. There are beach restaurants and small bars a short distance from the dock and trails through the forest from one side of the island to the other. This is our first time on the dock in more than 2 years so this new life aboard on the dock will take a little getting use to.
